Generally, we can place the barriers to communication into three categories:
ENVIRONMENTAL: Some common environmental barriers are noise, hearing loss, uncomfortable temperatures, and distracting activities.
VERBAL: Some encountered verbal barriers are ambiguity, unsual words, and different languages.
INTERPERSONAL: Yes, I’m aware of my interpersonal barriers.
How can you minimize potential barriers in your own communication with others?
I must be very aware of what is going on, leave personal beliefs and impact at a minimum, and seek or creative environments which are conducive to listening.
